• MDGrads for CHANGE

We are graduates of Santa Ana's Mater Dei High School

We have come together to end sexual abuse, hazing, violence, and cover-up at the school

We DEMAND accountability, student safety, survivor support, and institutional change
  • About MDGrads for Change

This group was founded by Mater Dei grads/sex abuse survivors and their supporters who are working for legislative change, changes to CIF, and real accountability from the Diocese of Orange and MDHS officials.

Since the first vocal survivors of former Principal Msgr. Michael Harris came forward to expose sexual abuse and cover-up at Mater Dei, survivors of abuse, bullying, hazing, and bigotry at the school have been vilified, marginalized, retaliated against, and silenced. Even when dozens of sex abuse survivors came forward in 2003, Mater Dei refused to make changes to the school, hold wrongdoers accountable, acknowledge the abuse, or even apologize to the victims.

Now, under California's new Child Victims Act (AB 218), we anticipate even more survivors coming forward.

The recent cases of violent hazing and subsequent media attention have opened the public's eyes to the systemic problems that exist at the school. It is time for the graduates who have been silenced to speak out on behalf of the kids who are still at risk and the former students who may be suffering in shame and silence.

  • We Need You

Here's how we will get there:

    Join Our List

Scroll below to "Be A Part of the Movement." By signing up, you will help us create the critical mass of people demanding change

    Speak Out

Your voice is your power. Write letters to the editor in support of survivors in breaking news stories. Write your lawmakers and ask them to strengthen laws on hazing, sexual abuse, and cover-up. Share posts on your social media and DEMAND that wrongdoers be removed. Talk to your friends, your family, and ESPECIALLY your children about abuse, violence, hazing and cover-up.

Stop Supporting MDHS and the Diocese of Orange

This one is simple: if you donate to Mater Dei and/or the Diocese of Orange - STOP.

Instead, send them a note telling them WHY.

If your child attends Mater Dei, consider the dozens and dozens of other good high schools in the area that do NOT haze and abuse kids, or cover-up crimes.

Write the school. Write the diocese. Say NO MORE!
